All About the Korean Dogwood Tree

The Korean Dogwood tree is also known as the Japanese Flowering Dogwood. This species of the Dogwood tree will provide an abundance of beautiful flowers, as well as colorful fall foliage.

The Korean Dogwood tree is only one of several different varieties of this tree, but it is one of the most popular. In the United States, this Dogwood is rapidly replacing the native Dogwood tree known as Cornus Florida. One of the reasons that this tree is so popular is that its delicate blossoms and little red fruit provide beauty and color for landscaping. During the fall, the leaves on this tree will turn bright red, so you will have great color during the fall, as well as spring and summer.

Aside from its beauty, there are other benefits to using the Korean Dogwood tree in your landscaping. One of those benefits is the fact that it is a very hardy species, and resistant to a lot of different diseases, unlike the White Dogwood. For this reason, more and more people are choosing to landscape with the Korean Dogwood instead of the White Dogwood tree.

Another advantage of landscaping with this species of Dogwood is that not only is it disease resistant, but it also requires little watering. For those who live in drought prone regions where watering outdoors may be restricted, this tree is an excellent choice. Still, there is even another advantage to using the Korean Dogwood tree in your landscaping design. This tree will grow in a variety of different soil types; for this reason there are many regions of the country where you will be able to grow this tree successfully.

In addition to these benefits, another popular trait of the Korean Dogwood tree is that it can be used in a lot of different landscaping designs. Due to the fact that it is fairly small, you can plant this tree near patio and decks. This will help to create shade in these areas, as well as provide some attractive scenery from these areas of your yard. Another idea would be to plant several of these trees in an area, which will create a grove type scene. This type of landscaping is really very attractive, plus it provides a large shady area.

This tree is frequently planted around buildings to compliment the landscaping, or to add ground cover, if the bush variety of Korean Boxwood is used. Though this may be a good choice for the bush species of this plant, the tree variety can reach heights of 20 to 30 feet, so it should only be planted in areas where it can reach this height without causing a problem.

Considering the fact that the Korean Dogwood tree does not require a lot of attention, it is one of the best choices for landscaping with trees, but there are some requirements that you will have to keep in mind. It will need to be planted in a soil that drains well, and this tree does well in moderate sun, but it can do well in partial sun. When this tree grows in its natural environment, it is often found growing below larger trees, which means that it will require some shading from direct sun.

Although partial sun conditions are optimal for growing the Korean Boxwood tree, it can be grown in a large variety of landscape settings. The main factor for keeping this tree in good health is that it should not be grown in areas where the sun is extremely hot, or in very dry regions. When grown in areas where there is too much shade, this tree may fail to blossom with flowers.
